Love letter from Dad #7

Koh - It was a 1+1 day today, just you and me walking, talking, shopping, eating, dozing on a 5 hour urban adventure. The art museum was our main event where I learned that you didn't care much about studying the exhibit of historic photos of the Columbia River Gorge. The part of that we both liked best was sneaking in the food and smoothie, hiding from the guards on the bench, crouched down among the crowd of last-day visitors. Climbing the big stairs ...touching the ho-ho-ho snowman ("please don't touch anything in the museum") that wasn't cold and wasn't melting.

OK, maybe the art museum wasn't the perfect activity for a 2-year old - how would I know until we tried?

But wait ...something changed as we packed up in the lobby for the road trip home. Thru the big glass door on the left you spotted the permanent exhibit of ancient Chinese sculpture ...a horse pulling a cart! Come on Dad! as you pulled my hand into a room not crowded with people ...and WOW look at all these cool animals! Suddenly the guide and follower switched roles ....you were guiding me thru this room ...by the dog, the dog-monster mix, the goose, another horse. Oh my, a tiger ...this one you studied quietly, intently. Your hand pulling mine along, then stopping to see what this next sculpture was about. Why didn't you take me here before, Dad? No hurry, look, another animal. You made the sounds of ones you know. Honk says the goose, grrrrr the tiger, woof the dog.... But mostly you were quiet, looking, learning, holding my hand.

Maybe there's another room like this in the art museum ...I think we'll go back to see.

I love you, Koh. -Dad
