You lookin' at you?

Koh: Mom and Dad think we only smile at them. But we smile at everyone! Look here... we even smile at these little twin babies that came over to visit today. Boy we hope to see them again sometime!

Telling us apart

Koh: Since we're fraternal twins, we don't look alike. But sometimes it can be hard to tell us apart and we know people get embarassed to have to ask who is who. So Abe and I worked up this list of things you can use to help figure it out. Can you tell who is who in the pictures?

Koh = Mellow. Zen boy. Heavier. Thunder thighs. Budda belly. Had dark hair at birth, lost it and new stuff looks dark blonde. Brilliant blue eyes. Mom's short toes. 17 lbs, 26"

Abraham = Often fussy. Squirmer. Arching back. Quick to smile. Eyes light up. Laughs out loud. Had blonde hair at birth, but now it looks reddish. Darker blue eyes, tending towards hazel lately. Slightly upturned nose. Daddy's longer toes. 15 lbs, 25.5"

Here Doggie Doggie

Koh: Another weekend, another hike. Actually Mommy and Daddy wanted to sleep in and lounge around the house, but Abraham and I dragged them outside, to the Columbia River Gorge, for another glorious hike. This time it was Dog Mountain in Washington. It is prime wildflower time there, so we got to see lots of pretty colors. We took a couple breaks so bro' and I could rest our rear-ends (they get tired of sitting in those front packs for five hours) and we all got to eat lunch. We saw our first snake too. It was a rattlesnake and it was right in the middle of the trail. Daddy wanted to get close to take a picture, but Mommy wouldn't let him since I was hanging on the front of him. There were lots of other people hiking too and Mommy said she felt like she was in a freak show the way people kept oohing and ahhing over twins on a big hike. She's just going to have to get used to it, because Abraham and I are sooo adorable and people want to look at and touch us. G Wiz

Abraham: If you've noticed the diaper count at the top of the blog, you know that my brother and I go a lot. Mom and Dad do not like adding all those diapers to our landfills since they can take up to 500 years to disintegrate, so they've been testing out these g diapers. They are environmentally-friendly and flushable. Dad says we have old pipes so we can't flush them but we can compost the wet-only ones. And it takes up to 120 days for the more-than-wet-only ones to completely disappear in the landfill. Pretty nice for the planet, I think.


How's it going? Koh and I are pretty good at blowouts and Mom and Dad aren't very good yet with installing these new diapers. Mom bought a big supply so they are still trying. At least they are really cute on us!

Memorial Day...Seker 4 go camping

Abe: Koh and I told Mom and Dad that it doesn't matter where we sleep cause we're gonna wake up whenever we want anyway and make a racket until we are fed and held and diapers changed. So the next thing we know it's a bright sunny day and we're stuck in this cage they call a pack-n-play but it was so windy that they had to wrap a tarp around it. But it was pretty fun cause we hiked and strolled in this cool river valley where 2 rivers meet and did stuff like we never saw before.... a real hot campfire, sleeping in a sleeping bag right in the same room as mom and dad, and dad even showed us how to skinny dip.... but mom said it was too cold for us to swim this time. 15% Bigger

Koh: I don't know what is up with Abraham. We eat the same thing, at the same time. He just can't keep up with me when it comes to weight. Daddy weighed us this morning and I'm 15% heavier than my big brother. I now weigh 17 pounds and Abraham is only 14.8. There's more of me for Mommy and Daddy to love!

We're drooling a lot (especially Abe) these days, and my extra chins makes it harder for Mommy to keep me dry and clean under there. She keeps checking in our mouths to see if we have teeth, but nothing has popped up...yet.

Abraham rolls

Koh: So Abraham finally rolled over today. It took him 2 weeks longer to do it for the first time than me. And I'm sure it has nothing to do with my rotund shape compared to his. I'm just more advanced than my brother. I can even grab for things with both hands and Abe can't do that yet. He does laugh more than me though.

Go Fast or Go Home

Abraham: Today was a really BIG day because Mommy took us running in the jogging stroller for the first time. It was fun to see things go by really fast. Okay, not really fast, but faster than they've been going by for the last few months in that stroller. Bro Koh and I liked it so much we didn't fuss at all or even go to sleep like we often do. Mommy was soooo excited to run with us that she gave us milkshakes when we got home.

New heights, new viewpoints

Koh: Today was the best hike ever 'cause Dad turned me around in the pack so I would FACE OUT and get to see the world instead of smashing my nose into his chest all the time. Wow... this way is WAY better.... to smile and wave at other hikers, look up at the sky and trees, feel the cool breeze on my cheeks, help Mom and Dad choose which path to walk... and more. I can't wait for Abe to get his neck strong enough to go this way, too, so we can play and slap each other around mo betta. Today's hike was 5+ hours, so we got to sleep and poop and eat in between all the nice viewpoints, waterfalls, wildflowers and rocks and trees we saw. Mom + Dad were proud of us for today's Hamilton Mountain (2488') adventure - our first "mountain top."

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Koh: I rock! I mean, I roll. Today I rolled over onto my tummy for the first time. Grandma Jan was my witness. Mommy's nervous now 'cuz she can't leave me alone anymore. Let the fun begin!

Mommy got some advice from twins the other day about how to handle us when we start walking. When we take off in opposite directions at the same time, she's to push one of us down and then go after the other.

Wrestling match

Abraham: Since Koh weighed in this week almost 10% heavier than me, I have to outsmart him when we wrestle around at the house. The doctor said my head is bigger - even though my belly is smaller - so I know that means I'm smarter than he is, too. Check me out... look what I did to Koh on Friday after he tried to sneak up behind me.... boy was he surprised after I spun him around and PINNED HIM down hard on the sofa.... TAKE THAT CHUBBY!

Beatles Fan

Koh: Everyone tells Mommy and Daddy that they should sing to us, but they don't understand that both of them are really bad singers. Daddy's favorite is Yellow Submarine by the Beatles, I guess because our bedroom is painted yellow. Abe may like the Beatles, but I'm not so sure about them - especially when Daddy sings Rocky Raccoon.

Leader Treats

Abraham: I think we may have what it takes to be mountaineers; persistance and wisdom to know when to turnaround. We had to turn around on our first gorge hike due to the rain. So Koh and I hit it again last weekend and hiked up to Angel's Rest... and we made it to the summit. Okay, maybe it really isn't a mountain, but 1600' is the highest we've been yet. Mommy taught us about Leader Treats too. This is where all the hikers/climbers bring a treat for the leader and give it to her at the top. Since we're new at all this, Mommy gave us the treat instead and nursed us at the top. She brought her Hooter Hider so none of the other hikers would be offended. But two of her co-workers, Stephen G. and Kurt S. showed up and kept their distance so maybe they didn't like that.

Busted!

Koh: So those of you who know Daddy well, know he is very anti-TV. He claims it makes you stupid and professes to only watch two programs a year; the Superbowl and the State of the Union. He gives Mommy and Grandma a hard time whenever they watch anything and was very excited when Mommy told him about something she read that said kids under two shouldn't watch any TV at all. Last night, however, Ohio State was in the basketball championships and since he's from Ohio, he wanted to watch the game. So downstairs Daddy, Abe and me went. It was fun hanging out on the couch with him. And that TV thing was actually pretty cool. But then Mommy came down to get us for dinner and busted us. Well, busted me. I swear it was Daddy's beer.

Little Angels

Abraham: This weekend Mommy and Daddy took us into the wild for the first time. We picked a hike in the Columbia River Gorge since it is one of their favorite places to go. We did a trail called Angel's Rest - fitting since we're such little angels ourselves, don't you think? Well, we got about half way up and then had to hide out under some big trees because it started raining pretty hard. Mom and Dad were staying dry with all their gear, but we just had on cotton so worry-wart Mommy was concerned we'd get cold. Koh couldn't have cared less, he just slept in the pack in front of Dad almost the whole time.







I was having lots of fun with the raindrops hitting my face and couldn't stop smiling. The best part was Daddy let me wear his hat on the way back.
